The first TV spots for a pair of movies opening in January recently aired and they have now been made available for viewing online.
The first movie, Contraband, is a remake of Icelandic writer-director Óskar Jónasson's 2008 thriller Reykjavík-Rotterdam and stars Mark Wahlberg as a reformed criminal who turns back to crime to protect his family. It was directed by Baltasar Kormákur, who starred in and produced the original movie, which went on to win five Edda Awards, including Director of the Year and Screenplay of the Year. The cast includes Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Foster, Caleb Landry Jones, Kate Beckinsale, J.K. Simmons and Lukas Haas.
Here's the synopsis of Contraband, followed by the first TV spot:
Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg) abandoned his life of crime long ago, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best — running contraband — to settle Andy’s debt. Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops, and hit men before his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and sons become their target.
Contraband opens January 13, 2012.
Another movie opening in January that recently debuted its first TV spot is writer-director William Brent Bell's (Stay Alive) micro-budgeted horror movie, The Devil Inside. Here's the synopsis of the movie and its first TV spot:
Her entire life, Isabella Rossi (Fernanda Andrade) believed her mother (Suzan Crowley) brutally murdered three people because she was clinically insane. After being told the murders occurred during an exorcism, she sets out to discover the truth. While documenting her experience with a film crew in Italy, she becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms.
The Devil Inside opens January 6th.
