First Trailer Released for The Five-Year Engagement

When Judd Apatow produces a romantic comedy, most audiences expect the movie to get hard R rating in the manner of Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Bridesmaids. From the 2.5 minutes revealed in the first trailer for The Five-Year Engagement, as well as the movie's cute, fake-wedding website, it looks like it may be tame enough to be rated PG-13.
The comedy, starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, follows a couple who are (surprise!) engaged for five years. From what can be learned in the trailer, the plot seems to rely on the premise that the couple cannot get married because they live in Michigan. But, as it turns out, counties in the state of Michigan do indeed issue marriage licenses, so it's unclear what's preventing a wedding from taking place.
Hopefully, the movie's next trailer shows us something with more promise, and less generic rom-com-ness.
Segel and Nicholas Stoller co-wrote the script, with Stoller directing. The movie co-stars Alison Brie, Rhys Ifans and Chris Pratt.
