Zac Efron Is All Grown Up in First Trailer for The Lucky One

Teen heartthrob Zac Efron is leaving behind his high school kid roles. The blue-eyed actor was the object of many a crush after the success of the High School Musical series, but remained in high school roles for several years following. He went on to play the 17-year-old version of Matthew Perry in the body-switching comedy 17 Again and the 18-year-old title character in Charlie St. Cloud. The actor is in a more mature role and taking on a character that has some real-life experience in The Lucky One, by playing Logan, a Marine who fought in Iraq.
While a featurette for the movie was released at the end of last month, the first official trailer has just hit the web. The Lucky One is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) and, of course, follows a veteran on his romantic quest. From the trailer, there is one obvious difference that stands out between this movie and other flicks based on a Sparks novel: In Lucky One the characters kiss passionately in a shower, while in other Nicholas Sparks romantic dramas, characters kiss passionately in the rain.
The Lucky One is directed by Scott Hicks, and the novel was adapted to a screenplay by Will Fetters. Blythe Danner and Taylor Schilling also star.
