Honest Abe Takes a Break in Two Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Posters

Two movies about the late President Abraham Linocoln will be released next year — one is a biopic about Lincoln's last four months in office, based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's best-selling book Team of Rivals and directed by Steven Spielberg; the other is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, also based on a best-selling book, but this time by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith and directed by Wanted's Timur Bekmambetov. While both are ostensibly about our nation's history, the latter posits Lincoln as a President bent on abolishing slavery and any and all vampires, including the one that killed his mother. It's a version of history, anyway.
IGN has released two new posters for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which see the Great Emancipator (played by Benjamin Walker) resting after he's taken an ax to vampires. Vanquishing the undead and running a country takes its toll, it seems.
From what's been revealed about the movie so far, it looks like the posters do a good job of representing the final product. While actor Anthony Mackie, who plays Lincoln's friend and fellow vampire slayer Will, has called the movie "a recontextualization of history" that shows "actual moments and things that happened in the annals of time," producer Simon Kinberg has said that the movie will see Lincoln "hacking people's heads off and killing vampires left and right." So, it's got a little bit for everybody.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead co-stars as Mary Todd Lincoln, the President's wife, and Dominic Cooper plays Henry Sturges, Lincoln's fanged mentor in the way of killing vampires. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was produced by director Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd) and was directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch, Daywatch).
