Double Stallone Friday: First Look at Bullet to the Head and First Official Poster for The Expendables 2

Sylvester Stallone has two action flicks arriving in theaters next year, starting with the comic book adaptation of Bullet to the Head, then the sequel The Expendables 2. Both movies are seemingly being promoted simultaneously — or perhaps Warner Bros. wanted to capitalize on the excitement over the Expendables 2 teaser trailer that was released this week — with a first-look photo arriving for Bullet and a new poster arriving for Expendables 2. The focus of both the photo and the poster are the same: Stallone.
Based on the French graphic novel Du Plomb dans la Tête, Bullet to the Head (not to be confused with director John Woo's 1990 action flick Bullet in the Head), the movie follows Stallone as a New Orleans hitman who teams with a New York cop (Fast Five's Sung Kang) to get revenge on the men who killed their respective partners. Jason Momoa plays Stallone's main adversary, with Stallone admitting in a behind-the-scenes sneak peek last month that Momoa had a distinct physical advantage over the 65-year-old actor. "I don't think I've ever seen a guy move like this," Stallone admitted. From the looks of the photo, revealed by ComingSoon, Momoa learned a thing or two about fighting with axes during the production of Conan the Barbarian.
AICN released the official poster for Expendables 2, which unlike the unofficial poster, does away with the rest of the large ensemble cast to showcase Stallone standing alone.
Don't worry, as the teaser trailer revealed, Stallone won't be working alone. Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Terry Crews are all returning along with newcomers Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, and Yu Nan. Simon West (Con Air) directed the sequel, which opens August 17, 2012.
If that's too long to wait, Bullet to the Head opens first on April 13, 2012. Walter Hill (48 Hours, Warriors) directed the movie, which co-stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), Holt McCallany (The Losers), Christian Slater (Heathers), and Sarah Shahi (I Don't Know How She Does It).
