Two New Stills from The Avengers; Chris Evans Discusses Character Friction

After the release of a German-dubbed trailer for The Avengers was released this week (offering footage not shown in the first trailer released in October), Marvel Studios has released two new stills from the upcoming superhero movie. Not surprisingly, the photos focus on three of the characters that have already received their own individual movie (or movies) — Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Captain America (Chris Evans).
While both trailers have shown Cap and Thor alternately fighting each other and fighting side-by-side, Evans confessed to Empire Magazine (via Comic Book Movie) that friction exists between the World War II hero and the god of thunder.
There's a couple of shots in the trailer of Thor and Captain America duking it out and that gives you an idea of how well they get along at the beginning... They're used to being leaders and if you put them all in a room, it's going to be about who runs the show. They all have some friction, absolutely, but it's about the journey of the team.
While S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has indeed put together an entire team to tackle the threat caused by Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Evans admits that Thor takes the problem of Loki personally.
Thor has a different opinion about how this should be taken care of, because it's his brother. I think it's heartbreaking, because he feels very responsible for why Loki has spiraled off. He keeps trying to appeal to whatever good was once there.
As revealed in the other movie still, Thor will need the help of his new teammates to defeat him.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon (Serenity), The Avengers co-stars Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow; Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk; Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye; Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson; Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill; and Stellan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig.
