Marvel Announces 3-D for The Avengers; Reschedules 2014 Mystery Movie

We're not sure if anyone was convinced that The Avengers wasn't going to be in 3-D, but Marvel Studios and Disney are making it official: the superhero movie will arrive in 3-D and 2-D next May.
In June, Avengers cast member Mark Ruffalo revealed that the movie wasn't being shot in 3-D, as was reported last August. Of course, it was understood that the movie would still be converted to 3-D, a fact that seemed all but proven when the "Real D 3D" logo was added to the end of the Avengers trailer. Still, there's something to be said about covering your bases.
Marvel has also revealed a release date change for a 2014 movie without revealing what the movie is. Marvel announced two mystery projects for 2014 in August, with "Marvel Untitled 1" opening on May 16, 2014, and "Marvel Untitled 2" opening on June 27, 2014. According to SuperHeroHype, The untitled June movie will now open on April 4th, while the untitled May project will still open as originally scheduled. No word was given on what that movie will be, though our guess in August was Captain America 2 and with Chris Evans revealing in September that Marvel "may wait until 2014" for Cap 2, we feel pretty good about our guess.
Marvel, so far, hasn't made any changes for 2013, which will still see the release of Iron Man 3 on May 3rd and Thor 2 on November 15th. Marvel president of production Kevin Feige has said that Iron Man 3 will start "phase two" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which would again point to Captain America 2 arriving in 2014, but any number of projects could fill the other 2014 slot, including Ant-Man or, possibly, The Avengers 2.
An Avengers sequel depends on whether audiences will show up to see the movie next year. Uniting Captain America (Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.),Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in an epic battle against Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor's brother and nemesis, The Avengers opens on May 4th, 2012. Joss Whedon (Serenity) wrote and directed the movie.
