Paranormal Activity 4 Coming in 2012

It was inevitable that Paramount Pictures would press "play" on another installment in the "found footage" horror franchise after Paranormal Activity 3 (PA3) opened to a record-setting $52.5 million, making it the best opening for a horror movie ever and the best opening movie for the month of October. In fact, less than a month after PA3 debuted, Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman revealed that Paramount was "developing ideas" for a sequel. Now, Paramount has announced that Paranormal Activity 4 will debut in 2012, making it the fourth movie in the franchise in four years.
Paramount's announcement was included in a recent press release touting the studio as the #1 movie studio of 2011, with earnings in excess of $5.17 billion worldwide, toppling last year's champion, Warner Bros. The release offered no details about Paranormal Activity 4 except that the movie would be one of the "highlights" of "Paramount's 100th year," along with World War Z, G.I. Joe Retaliation, and The Dictator.
If you've seen all three movies, then you know that there are still many unanswered questions, any number of which could serve as the basis of a fourth movie.
