Casting News: Demi Moore, Adam Brody and More Join Competing Lovelace Biopics; Amanda Seyfried and Taylor Swift Offered Les Misérables

For a while, it seemed that, of the two planned biopics about the late 1970's porn star Linda Lovelace, the Amanda Seyfried-starring Lovelace was getting the most traction. It recently added four actors to its cast and started production last month. Now it looks like the other Lovelace biopic, Inferno: a Linda Lovelace Story starring Malin Akerman (Watchmen) in the lead role, is finally putting together its cast as well.
So let's step back for a moment for Lovelace, which has also announced some new cast members. Deadline reports that Demi Moore, Eric Roberts and Adam Brody have all joined the cast. Moore will play feminist author Gloria Steinem, while Roberts is playing lie detector expert Nat Laurendi and Brody is playing Lovelace's Deep Throat co-star Harry Reems.
Meanwhile, Inferno, which, at one point, had Lindsay Lohan in the lead role until she was either fired or quit, has added cast members as well. Variety reports that Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan), Harold Perrineau (Lost) and former porn star-turned-actress Sasha Grey (The Girlfriend Experience) have been cast in the movie. Goldberg will play Reems in Inferno, while Perrineau will play Lovelace's sometimes-lover Sammy Davis Jr. Grey's role in the movie was unspecified.
Inferno was based on Lovelace's 1980 memoir Ordeal: An Autobiography, and is being directed by Matthew Wilder (Your Name Here) and focuses on how Lovelace was forced into porn by her abusive, pornographer husband Chuck Traynor (played by Matt Dillon). Production is set to start in Louisiana next month.
Lovelace was written by Andy Bellin (Trust) and is being directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (Howl). Peter Sarsgaard is playing Traynor in the movie, which also co-stars Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct, Casino), Robert Patrick (T2), Hank Azaria (The Smurfs) and Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises).
Speaking of Seyfried, looks like the actress could go from playing a porn star to taking part in a musical adaptation of Les Misérables from Academy Award–winning director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and starring Hugh Jackman as ex-convict Jean Valjean.
Twitch was the first to report that Seyfried was offered a role in the movie, which Broadway World has confirmed will be the role of Cosette. Seyfried, who is actually an Opera-trained singer, could be joined by country singer and actress Taylor Swift (Valentine's Day), who has been offered the role of Éponine, the spoiled daughter of Cosette's caretakers, Monsieur (Sacha Baron Cohen) and Madame (Helena Bonham Carter) Thénardier. Anne Hathaway has already been cast as Cosette's mother, Fantine, so how Hathaway will play the mother of someone only three younger than her is anyone's guess.
Production on Les Misérables is set to begin in February and will have to work quickly to make the December 7th release date Universal has set for the musical. William Nicholson (Gladiator) wrote the script for the movie, which will utilize Claude-Michel Schoenberg's score from the musical based on Victor Hugo's book. Russell Crowe co-stars as Valjean's adversary, Inspector Javert.
