The Wachowskis Want Natalie Portman for Jupiter Ascending

Practically nothing has been revealed about Andy and Lana Wachowski's planned follow-up to their currently-in-production sci-fi movie, Cloud Atlas. All that has been revealed is that it's called Jupiter Ascending, it's in the sci-fi genre, and they want to go into production on the movie as early as spring of this year. Well, whatever the movie is about, it's apparently intriguing enough for Academy Award-winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan) to consider taking a break from baby duty to get back in front of the camera lens. According to the L.A. Times, an anonymous source "briefed on the project" has revealed that the Wachowskis are courting Portman for a role in the movie and the new mom is "seriously weighing taking the part."
Other than Jupiter Ascending, Portman is also said to be considering making a documentary about Jonathan Safran Foer's book Eating Animals. A vegetarian since childhood and an advocate for animal rights, Portman became a vegan in 2009 after reading Foer's book, only returning to her vegetarian lifestyle during her pregnancy. Portman is also contracturally obligated to appear in a sequel to Thor, though she is apparently "deeply upset" that Marvel couldn't work out the "creative differences" that the studio had with director Patty Jenkins (Monster) and decided to replace her with Alan Taylor (Palookaville). Thor 2 is slated for release on November 15, 2013, but the studio is still searching for a screenwriter.
