Martin Campbell Replaces Joe Carnahan as Director of Alien Conspiracy Movie Umbra

It appears as if director Martin Campbell is committed to saving the earth from alien menaces. Campbell last directed the superhero movie Green Lantern, in which Ryan Reynolds donned a green ring to help save the planet from the threat of the fear-parasite Parallax, and now Campbell will attempt to thwart aliens from breeding with humans as the director of Umbra. According to Deadline, Campbell will be taking the helm away from outgoing director Joe Carnahan (The A-Team), who has left the project "for personal reasons."
The movie, first announced last August, was written by Carnahan and first-time feature screenwriter Steven Karczynski. The plot follows an investment bank named David Underwood who accidentally uncovers a government conspiracy to keep secret the fact that it is in league with aliens intent on breeding using human chromosomes.
When Carnahan was still attached, A-Team star Bradley Cooper was said to be "in talks" for the role of Underwood, but Deadline did not specify whether he was still involved or not. Endgame Entertainment apparently wants to go into production on the movie as early as this Spring so expect casting announcements to be forthcoming.
