Betty White Celebrates 90th with Another Betty

How does a national treasure celebrate a milestone? With another national treasure, of course.
Betty White will turn 90 years old on January 17, and the celebrating is already well underway. At a recent birthday party, which will air on NBC Monday, January 16, the television star was presented with a cake created by Betty Crocker. Though she is a cultural icon and the First Lady of Food, Betty Crocker is not a real person. The name, however, was created in 1921, meaning the Bettys are the same age. The outside of Betty White's birthday cake was a combination of pink, white, red, and yellow elements, but the inside was all chocolate. The chocolate cake was layered with both chocolate ganache and chocolate mousse. Luckily, the cake was presented without incident. Betty White apparently has better luck with cakes than her Mary Tyler Moore show character Sue Ann Nivens.
The ninety-year-old actress has been a television star for sixty years, and was first nominated for an Emmy in 1952. Since then, the small screen icon has starred in more than a dozen television series, including the currently running Hot in Cleveland.
