The first trailer has arrived for Moonrise Kingdom, the latest movie from director Wes Anderson (The Royal Tennenbaums, Rushmore).
Set in the 1960s, Moonrise Kingdom follows a pair of young boy and girl (newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward) who fall in love and decide to run away together and the hapless search to find them that involves the girl's parents (Bill Murray and Frances McDormand), the local sheriff (Bruce Willis) and a camp leader (Edward Norton), which allows Anderson the opportunity for yet another quirky uniform reminiscent of the the nautical uniforms in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and the red track suits from Royal Tennenbaums.
Told in Anderson's inimitable style, Moonrise Kingdom looks like a return to form after to live-action after the 2009 animated Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Here's the synopsis for Moonrise Kingdom.
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore -- and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl's parents.
Moonrise Kingdom was written by Anderson and Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited) and co-stars Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel and Jason Schwartzman.
