New Poster and Stills for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The first image for director Timur Bekmambetov's (Wanted) adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was released last May, and until two posters arrived last December, there has been little subsequent marketing. Until now.
Based on the best-selling book by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the upcoming Dark Shadows), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter mixes historical fact with a (fictional?) back-story that has the Great Emancipator's mother murdered by vampires and sees Lincoln (played by Benjamin Walker) take his ax to the undead hordes in revenge. Co-star Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), who plays Lincoln's friend and fellow vampire slayer Will, has called the movie "a recontextualization of history" while producer Simon Kinberg has said that we will see Lincoln "hacking people's heads off and killing vampires left and right." The release of a new poster for the movie certainly rests in the "recontextualization" side, as it shows Walker as Lincoln sitting in the Lincoln Monument repose, with an axe by his side.
The two new photos, revealed by Movies-info.net (via Comingsoon), don't exactly show any axe-hacking, but do show Lincoln hiding in the shadows and racing through the woods, conceivably hunting down bloodsuckers.
Produced by Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was adapted by Grahame-Smith and co-stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln, the President's wife; Rufus Sewell as Adam, the lead vampire; a fanged Dominic Cooper as Henry Sturges, Lincoln's mentor; and Robin McLeavy as Nancy Hanks Lincoln, the former president's mother.
