Columbia Pictures' remake of 21 Jump Street won't open until March, but it hasn't been deprived of trailers, starting with a red band trailer that debuted last November.
Like the Fox TV show of the same name that starred Johnny Depp in the late '80s and early '90s, 21 Jump Street is about a police undercover unit that sends its officers into high school in order to pose as students. The latest footage comes from a new international trailer, which shows Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) go from young cadets on bikes to trying to uncover a high school drug dealer (Dave Franco), while Ice Cube's character lays down the rules for what not to do while working undercover.
21 Jump Street is already receiving good online buzz from critics on Twitter, who obviously saw an advance screening. According to one critic, there may not be a movie with more laughs for the rest of 2012.
21 Jump Street was conceived by Hill and written by Scott Pilgrim vs. the World screenwriter Michael Bacall. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) directed. The cast also includes Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids), Brie Larson (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and Rob Riggle (The Other Guys).
