Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds Get Big Eyes

Tim Burton's latest project, Big Eyes, has big news. Despite being an independent film, Burton and co-writer/directors Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski just snagged A-listers Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds to star as the 1960's famous artistic couple, Margaret and Walter Keane.
Big Eyes is based on the true story of kitsch art icon, Margaret Keane (Witherspoon), who is best known for her paintings of grief-stricken, wide-eyed children. However, after their divorce, the Keanes became embroiled in a bitter dispute over the origins and authenticity of their paintings — her ex-husband Walter (Reynolds) claimed for years that the paintings were his but was challenged by Margaret in court, resulting in a well-documented "paint off."
Alexander and Karaszewski told Variety:
We are ecstatic to have this dream cast for our dream project. Walter is a larger-than-life antihero — charming, funny, dangerous, and a little crazy. Ryan will knock it out of the park. As for Reese, she will be perfect as Margaret — soulful, decent, transforming from vulnerability to learning to fight for herself.
Although the duo may be new to working with such big stars, this isn't the first time the two have teamed up with producer-extraordinaire Burton — they collaborated with him on the Oscar-winning Ed Wood featuring Johnny Depp.
Reynolds stars alongside Denzel Washington in Universal's Safe House opening February 10th.
You can catch Witherspoon in McG's action-comedy This Means War, opening this Valentine's Day.
