New Images: Karl Urban in Dredd and Vin Diesel on the Set of Riddick 3

A pair of new images from two upcoming sci-fi movies have been released online. The first, a large close-up shot of Karl Urban in costume as the futuristic law-dog Judge Dredd in director Pete Travis' (Vantage Point, Endgame) Dredd comes courtesy of Total Film magazine (scan by StarkIndustries.ru). The image doesn't reveal much more than what we've seen previously, but it does seem to support Urban's promise that his Judge Dredd — as opposed to Sylvester Stallone's version in the 1995 movie adaptation — will "keep [the] helmet on."
The second image comes directly from the set of the currently-in-production sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick and was posted online by franchise star Vin Diesel via his personal Facebook page. The image is the second shot of Diesel in costume that has been released in the last two weeks and shows Riddick wearing a different costume than the "Necro-armor" he sported in the last set photo.
Dredd was produced by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle's (Slumdog Millionaire) DNA Films. The script was written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine), and has been described by Judge Dredd creator John Wagner as a "high-octane slay ride through the dark underbelly of the vast future city" that Dredd inhabits, Mega City One. Olivia Thirlby (Solitary Man) and Lena Heady (300) also star. Dredd opens September 21st.
Here's the comment that Diesel made about the new image:
Being king has it's perks... yet an alpha Furyan, must return to his primitive state... that animal side.
P.s. An early pic from the set of the new Riddick film.
Riddick 3 (working title) was written and is being directed by David Twohy, who also directed the first two movies and had a hand in writing the first two movies and the 2004 made-for-DVD animated movie The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. The only cast members that have been confirmed at this time are Diesel and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), but Jordi Mollà (Colombiana, Knight and Day) is said to be in talks to play a villain and Karl Urban (Star Trek, Dredd) may also return. The movie does not yet have a release date.
