The first still images from the Jonathan Liebesman-directed sequel to Clash of the Titans have turned up online and — surprise, surprise — they primarily feature Sam Worthington as Perseus, the demigod son of Zeus (Liam Neeson) and hero of the first movie. However, while Worthington is featured in two of the three images, he looks far less heroic than when we last saw him. In fact, it's actually a ripped-up Rosamund Pike as the warrior Queen Andromeda who looks like the real badass of this movie.
Set a decade after Perseus' triumphant defeat of the mighty Kraken in the first movie, Wrath of the Titans finds Perseus living a much simpler life as a fisherman and single parent to his 10-year-old son, Helius. Even though Perseus has put down his sword in favor of a fishing pole, the travails of the ever-feuding gods and Titans force him back into action when Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and Ares (Edgar Ramirez) conspire to kidnap Zeus and turn him over to the ruler of the Titans, Kronos. No match for Kronos, Perseus enlists the aid of Queen Andromeda, the demigod Argenor (Toby Kebbell) and the fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy) in his quest to rescue Zeus and save mankind from the "wrath" of the Titans.
Wrath of the Titans was written by Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson from a story by Mazeau, Johnson and Greg Berlanti. The cast also includes Gemma Arterton as Io and Danny Huston as Poseidon.
