Morgan Freeman Joins Tom Cruise in Tron: Legacy Director's Untitled Sci-Fi Epic

For a movie about the end of the world, the cast of director Joseph Kosinski's follow-up to Tron: Legacy continues to grow as quickly as the title keeps changing. Originally titled Oblivion, the name of the movie was later changed to Horizon, then, most recently, lost name and became "untitled."
Deadline reports that Morgan Freeman is the latest actor to join the cast of the sci-fi epic. What role he will play is unknown. The report refers to the movie as Oblivion, which makes sense since that is also the title of Kosinski's graphic novel that the movie is based on. Radical Studios will release the novel later this year.
Whatever the movie ends up being called, it's set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where aliens have made the planet uninhabitable. Tom Cruise plays a man named Jack who repairs the drones that fight the aliens on the Earth's surface. Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) and Andrea Riseborough (W.E.) were recently cast as Cruise's companion and a mysterious woman who crash lands on the planet.
The script is currently being rewritten by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), from previous drafts by Academy Award–winning screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed) and Karl Gadjusek (Trespass). We hope Arndt can convince Universal of an appropriate title before the movie opens on July 19, 2013.
