On the eve of the Grammys, Whitney Houston's death was confirmed by publicist Kristen Foster. The cause of the legendary singer's death, if yet known, has not been released.
Dubbed "The Voice" by Oprah Winfrey, Houston was one of the world's top artists from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. Her more than 400 awards include one Emmy, six Grammys, 22 AMAs, and 30 Billboard Music Awards. Houston also starred in a number of blockbuster movies, including 1992's The Bodyguard and 1995's Waiting to Exhale. In addition, Houston stars in the upcoming Sparkle.
Her early stardom was later overshadowed by battles with drugs and alcohol, as well as a tumultuous marriage from 1992 to 2007 to singer Bobby Brown.
