Billy Bob Thornton Is Back in the Director's Chair

Billy Bob Thornton is a familiar name in Hollywood for acting, but don't forget directing, writing, and producing.
Thornton's Jayne Mansfield's Car is premiering at the Berlin Film Festival this month, and he just announced that he will be co-writing and directing an "ethereal" road movie called And Then We Drove.
Originally titled Drove, Thornton teams up with pal and previous writing partner, Tom Epperson (The Gift) to script the film funded by Alexander Rodnyansky's AR Films and Geyer Kosinski's Media Talent Group. And Then We Drove will be "one of the first of up to six under-$20 million features to spring from the new $120 million film fund."
Thornton admits that his wild relationship with ex-wife Angelina Jolie influenced the script. He's described And Then We Drove as being about "a guy who's on a road trip and picks up this girl along the way, and what happens to them. It's about the question of life: 'What is this? Where do I fit in?'" The movie travels all throughout the US on the open road but the majority of story takes place in L.A., the South, and the Southwestern deserts.
Despite Thornton's movie-making success, he is still looking for a distributor for his Willie Nelson documentary, The King of Luck, which premiered at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival.
