Josh Duhamel Says No Previous Characters Will Return for Transformers 4

This week's confirmation that Michael Bay would return to the director's chair for
Transformers 4 (working title) wasn't a surprise to anyone, except perhaps the supporting cast of the past three Transformers movies.
Transformers star Shia LaBeouf already revealed that he does not want to return for a fourth installment, saying that, "I imagine they'll reboot it at some point with someone else." And last September, co-star Tyrese Gibson said that he thought both Bay and LaBeouf would return for a fourth movie. Turns out they're both right.
Bay's confirmation came early from the mouth of Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who also said that the fourth installment would be "an evolution" of the franchise that would essentially be a reboot that would contain "continuity" from the previous movies. "Whether there's anybody from the first cast, we don't even know yet," admitted di Bonaventura.
In a recent interview with E! Online, Josh Duhamel, who played Captain Lennox in all three Transformers movies, claims that nobody is coming back from the previous movies.
I don't think anybody's doing it. I know Shia's not doing it. I don't think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it. Whenever these movies make that much money they're going to make as many as they can, [but] I haven't heard anything about it. They haven't called me.
Of course, there's no reason to contact Duhamel or any of the other human actors from the Transformers franchise, at least, not until there's a script. Even di Bonaventura admitted that there's no story yet, so Transformers 4 is clearly in early development. Still, the Transformers movies have always been about the robots, so it's likely that Bay will start from scratch with entirely new characters, with the exception of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.
Or perhaps Bay is just waiting to announce that Megan Fox is ready to take over the franchise instead.
