Hunger Games Sells More Advanced Tickets than Twilight

The newest popular book-series-turned-movie, The Hunger Games, is often compared to it's predecessor, the Twilight saga; however, it just surpassed the vampire flick in early ticket sales. Twilight's third movie, Eclipse, broke first-day record sales back on May 14, 2010 but now Games has "already sold out hundreds of showtimes in advance of the film's March 23 release date," according to Fandango.
Rick Butler, executive vice president and general manager of Fandango, boasts about Hunger Games' feat.
The Hunger Games is off to a fantastic start. Yesterday, we saw the biggest first-day advance-ticketing sales in our company's nearly 12-year history — which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel.
According to MTV News, before it's March release date, the cast (including Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth) will travel to eight cities on a U.S. mall tour.
Don't miss the chance to win a trip for two to The Hunger Games premiere in Los Angeles on March 12. The sweepstakes includes premiere tickets, airfare, a two-night hotel stay and car service.
