50 years after her death, Marilyn Monroe still proves to be as iconic and prevalent as ever. As a tribute to the late actress, the Festival de Cannes is honoring the anniversary of her death by including her on the official poster of its 65th anniversary poster. Monroe is pictured blowing out a single candle on a birthday cake, sensually of course.
“Fifty years after her death, Marilyn is still a major figure in world cinema, an eternal icon, whose grace, mystery and power of seduction remain resolutely contemporary,” the Festival said in a statement,, adding, "The Festival is a temple of glamour and Marilyn is its perfect incarnation.”
Lately, Marilyn has made a few appearances in Hollywood with a recently released movie, My Week With Marilyn and also in the makeup industry with MAC's Marilyn Monroe limited-edition inspired line coming out this fall. In addition, NBC's musical drama, Smash, will be honoring Monroe in Broadway form.
