Muppets Sequel Moves Forward Without Jason Segel

After the success of Jason Segel's The Muppets last year, director James Bobin and co-writer Nicholas Stoller have decided to make a sequel, even without the funny actor.
According to Vulture, Segel won't be returning as an actor or co-writer in the new Muppets movie due to previous commitments. Segel is currently starring in CBS's How I Met Your Mother as well as promoting his upcoming rom-coms (The Five-Year Engagement and This Is Forty).
While a movie with the lovable Muppets but without the man who made them cool again may seem dull, not all hope is lost. Vulture reports their Disney insiders said "there's still a chance that the actor may star in a Muppets sequel, depending on how the Stoller-Bobin script turns out."
In the meantime, check out Segel alongside Emily Blunt in April's The Five-Year Engagement and in Judd Apatow's This Is Forty, set to hit theaters this December.
