Will Ferrell Sings in New Clip from Casa de Mi Padre; Director to Tackle King Dork

Will Ferrell's latest comedy, Casa de Mi Padre ("House of My Father"), will give fans a chance to see him as they never have: speaking entirely in Spanish.
A parody of Spanish-language telenovelas, Casa de Mi Padre follows Ferrell as rancher Armando Alvarez, who in an attempt to save his family's failing ranch, falls in love with his brother Raul's (Diego Luna) new fiancé, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez), and becomes a target of a feared drug lord (Gael Garcia Bernal). The movie's latest preview clip, released by Ferrell and Adam McKay's Funny Or Die website, shows none of that, however, as it has Ferrell's Alvarez sitting around a campfire singing the original song "Yo No Se" ("I Don't Know").
Casa de Mi Padre was written by Andrew Steele and was directed by Matt Piedmont, both of whom wrote for Saturday Night Live and HBO's Funny or Die Presents, where Piedmont also worked as a director on the Brick Novax's Diary shorts. Wasting no time to set up his next project, Piedmont will direct the adaptation of King Dork, the 2006 novel by Frank Portman and adapted by D.V. DeVincentis (High Fidelity), according to Deadline.
Set in 1987, King Dork follows best friends Tom and Sam as they bond over classic rock in order to survive the experience of high school. Ferrell and McKay will produce the movie through their Gary Sanchez production company. McKay revealed why Piedmont got the King Dork gig and what the movie will be about.
Matt did a fantastic job on Casa, and this is right in his wheelhouse. Matt's a collector of albums from the '60s and '70s, which fits right in. The movie is about that moment when you go from the confines of your room with your music, to venturing out in the world with fantasies of rock stardom. They stumble through in a scary, hilarious way and actually in a strange way become rock stars. We all remember the days when you’d ride a bike to meet a girl, or obsess over album covers and look at bands like they were on a different planet. The movies that capture that feeling and the pain of high school are some of my favorites, from My Bodyguard to Over the Edge.
McKay said there might be a role for Ferrell in King Dork, but revealed that the casting process is "just beginning." Production is set to start in June in Connecticut.
