A Fan's-Eye View of Tonight's Hunger Games Premiere
03.12.12 by reelz
The long-awaited The Hunger Games adaptation premieres in Los Angeles tonight, and the world will definitely be watching. Caitlin, who won our Hunger Games premiere sweepstakes, will be there to see the movie along with the stars. How are she and her sister, Johanna, getting ready for the evening's festivities? The duo is blogging their trip and we've got the answer to that question in their first installment.
Hey there, fellow Hunger Games fans! Our names are Caitlin and Johanna and the odds were ever in our favor! We hail from Chicago and we were the two tributes chosen to represent the district of Illinois for The Hunger Games world premiere! In other words, we are the winners of the ReelzChannel Hunger Games Premiere Sweepstakes!
Our trip to Los Angeles has been an adventurous one so far. We nearly got bumped to a later flight, but just like our heroine Katniss Everdeen, two awesome passengers volunteered themselves to catch a later flight so we could make ours. During our flight from Chicago, we flew over the Rocky Mountains as well as the Grand Canyon, and had some spectacular views from the air. Upon landing at LAX, we were greeted by glorious weather, palm trees, and sunshine — as you can imagine, this is something we're not accustomed to in Illinois at this time of the year!
We arrived at our hotel in the middle of the bustling Hollywood Boulevard. After checking into our hotel, we took a stroll down the Boulevard to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Kodak Theater, and Grauman's Chinese Theater. We also got to see the likes of Michael Jackson, Bumblebee from Transformers, and the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow. (Caitlin even stopped to take a cool action shot with Bumblebee!) [see photo below] It was awesome to see the relics of both new and old Hollywood being enjoyed by many generations of fans.
The next day we took a trip over to the Grove and Farmer's Market, where we checked out some shops and enjoyed a delicious breakfast of crepes. Johanna got the most amazing strawberry, banana, and Nutella crepes, a new breakfast favorite. Afterwards, we made our way to the Santa Monica Pier where we took a ride on the Ferris wheel, ate a delicious dinner at Bubba Gumps, and walked along the breathtaking beach. The Pacific coast is absolutely beautiful! We were surprised at how many people were in the chilly water, but we enjoyed watching the awesome surfers ride the waves. We ended our day by wandering down the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, a destination full of awesome shopping and dining, as well as some pretty good street musicians.
Today is the big day! We're beyond excited to get all dressed up to go to the premiere! The anticipation must be what the citizens of Panem feel like before reaping day! (But, in a good way.) Anyways, we are so happy to be here to have this unbelievable experience! Thanks, ReelzChannel! Stay tuned for our next entry after the premiere!
