Dumb and Dumber Sequel to Begin Shooting in September

Not an April Fool's joke; we checked. A sequel to 1994's Dumb and Dumber will, in fact, start shooting this September. Last October, That's My Boy director Sean Anders and his occasional screenwriting partner John Morris (Mr. Popper's Penguins, Hot Tub Time Machine) were hired to pen the sequel for directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly. Clearly, their script must have hit the mark. While doing press for the siblings' upcoming remake/homage The Three Stooges, Peter revealed that the Dumb and Dumber sequel is gearing up to step in front of cameras this fall.
We're getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September. It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.
Carrey had already expressed interest in returning, but Daniels' participation was confirmed by Farrelly's comment. Of course, it's not the first time that Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne have been assembled for a sequel or, rather a prequel, as was the case with the Farrellys, Carrey, and Daniels-less Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, which was released back in 2003. Farrelly wanted to make it clear, in no uncertain terms, that he and Bobby had nothing to do with the prequel, which he called a "studio thing."
We did not do Dumb and Dumberer. That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, "We've got to do this thing again." He had just watched Dumb and Dumber and he said, "This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it."
Dumb and Dumber 2 will be the first sequel for the Farrellys, and to many, a return to Dumb and Dumber is a welcome thing. What do you think? Are you excited about Dumb and Dumber 2?
