Verónica Echegui has yet to be discovered by American audiences, but she is already a well-known actress in her native Spain, having won several awards for her work in such movies as My Name is Juani (2006) and Katmandú, un espejo en el cielo (2011). However, the 29-year-old actress should start to pop up on the radars of Stateside moviegoers once Mabrouk El Mechri's (JCVD) new action thriller, The Cold Light of Day, opens this week.
It's unclear how extensive Echegui's role in the movie is, but she is featured alongside Henry Cavill in the two new preview clips from the movie that have been released online. The plot revolves around a young man's (Cavill) quest to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of his parents while on a family vacation in Spain and the secret life his father (Bruce Willis) has been leading. From what we see in the preview clips, Echegui's character appears to be an innocent bystander who simply gets swept up in the intrigue.
The Cold Light of Day was written by Scott Wiper (The Condemned) and John Petro. Sigourney Weaver, Caroline Goodall, and Óscar Jaenada also star.
