Robert Pattinson Steams Up New Bel Ami Trailer

Like most novels set in Paris in the late 1800s, Bel Ami is a story about scandal, society, infidelity, and power — the perfect recipe for an indie period drama. Add
Edward Cullen Robert Pattinson as a charming playboy, though, and you've got producers hoping for a movie with an appeal beyond the Merchant and Ivory set.
Pattinson plays Georges Duroy, a journalist who gains power by manipulating and seducing rich and prominent Parisian women. And seduce and manipulate RPatz does in this second trailer, bedding Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristin Scott Thomas.
And if the collage of steamy scenes isn't enough to draw in the Twilight crowd, the trailer ends with a pale Georges strolling dramatically through a doorway into the light, bringing to mind Edward's entrance to Volterra's square in New Moon. We're surprised they didn't find a way to add a few CGI sparkles to his 19th-century attire.
Based on the 1885 novel by Guy de Maupassant, the movie is directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod. Bel Ami will be available on iTunes and on video on demand May 4, and arrives in theaters June 8.
