Taylor Lautner Joins Adam Sandler in Grown Ups 2

With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 bringing an end to the franchise this November, Taylor Lautner is looking for what to do next with his career. He's already tried being an action star with Abduction, but that didn't turn out too well, as bad reviews didn't convince Twilight fans to help make the movie a hit. Next up, Lautner will try comedy, and for that, he will turn to an assured, award-winning comedic hand: Adam Sandler. OK, so those "awards" were actually Razzies, with Sandler recently winning both Worst Actor and Worst Actress for his dual role in Jack and Jill (which set a record by sweeping every category at the Golden Raspberry Awards). Still, by definition, Sandler did "win" those awards — even beating Lautner, who was nominated for Worst Actor for his role in Abduction.
We guess if you can't beat 'em at winning a fake award that celebrates the worst in movies, join 'em. Lautner will appear in Grown Ups 2, the sequel to the 2010 ensemble comedy that saw Sandler team with several of his Saturday Night Live alums and quickly became one of the actor's highest grossing movies ever at $271 million worldwide. Say what you will about Sandler, but he does find a way to deliver (at least, at the box office), and who can blame Lautner for wanting to hang out with Chris Rock, David Spade, and the rest of the cast after doing nothing but Twilight-related ab work for so many years?
According to THR, Lautner's role is a "fun" one that will see the actor go "toe-to-toe" with Sandler. Sounds like a glorified cameo, but we'll find out when Grown Ups 2 opens on July 12, 2013.
