Ted's Green Band Trailer Still Stars Mark Wahlberg and a (Less) Foul-Mouthed Teddy Bear

As R-rated comedies become more prevalent, so too does the red band trailer, often released first so audiences know why the movie was rated R in the first place. Such is the case with Ted, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane's directorial debut, which recently received a red band trailer. In Ted's case, the red band trailer highlighted the foul-mouthed nature of the title character, a walking, talking teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) that is the life-long best friend of Mark Wahlberg. Naturally, a more work-appropriate, green band trailer has followed.
Ironically, it's the green band trailer that's the funnier of the two, perhaps because it does a better job of introducing the character of Ted and his history and isn't solely focused on proving how hilarious it is when a teddy bear curses, smokes pot or acts inappropriately. The latest trailer shows all that too but gives more context of the relationship between Ted and his human companion John (Wahlberg). The one problem with Ted's green band trailer is that it may show a little too much of where the movie is going, though, when it comes to Hollywood, there's usually only one way a story about "a guy who never grew up" will resolve itself.
Ted was written by MacFarlane and his fellow Family Guy writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. Mila Kunis, Joel McHale and Giovanni Ribisi co-star.
