More Retro Aliens Revealed in New Still Images from Men in Black III

Though EW may not quite have the "first look" at the new aliens in director Barry Sonnenfeld's Men in Black III as the popular entertainment magazine claims to have — a Russian website posted images from multiple Oscar-winning makeup artist Rick Baker's studio several weeks ago, revealing more than a dozen "retro" aliens designed for the new movie — at least a few of the aliens are new in the images recently posted online. Plus, the image set contains new shots of Will Smith as Agent J, Josh Brolin as '60s-era Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones plays the 2012 version) and Jemaine Clement as the villainous Yaz. We also get a little insight into the look of the new aliens, courtesy of Baker himself.
When I saw the '60s part, I said, "I think we should do retro-looking aliens based on a lot of the aliens that were in films from the '50s and '60s that I love." It was actually an idea I'd tried to push in the first two movies and they didn't go for it, but I figured with the time travel it would be perfect.
Baker, whose creature makeup for the first Men in Black movie won him one of his seven Academy Awards, created 127 different aliens for Men in Black III, though you might miss some of them if you don't watch closely.
We’d do an alien you could build a whole movie around, with all kinds of animatronics in its face, and then it would turn out to be in a quick pan. It was like, "Wow, we could have saved some time there!"
Men in Black III was written by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder), David Koepp (Jurassic Park), Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 3) and Michael Soccio (TV's The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air). The cast includes Alice Eve, Emma Thompson, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sacha Baron Cohen, Betty White and Nicole Scherzinger.
