Is The Avengers Not Finished Shooting?
Posted 04.13.12 by Chris
You would think with The Avengers' world premiere on Wednesday and with the movie's May 4 release date looming (the movie actually opens this weekend at a handful of fan screenings) that Joss Whedon would be done editing the superhero flick — let alone done shooting scenes, right?
After a Thurday press conference Robert Downey Jr. said that he and his co-stars still had a scene to shoot.
Not to keep you guessing, but we’re actually not done shooting. We are shooting one more scene tonight. I’m not kidding.
Then later, Mark Ruffalo told THR he, Downey, and the rest of the cast were shooting a scene Thursday night.
Yeah, yeah -- we’re shooting a scene tonight. I don’t know where it’s going to go. I really don’t. We don’t even really know what it is yet, but we’re shooting a scene tonight. [Pointing to the closet of his hotel room] All I know is that my costume is in there, we’re putting on make-up, [and they’re saying] ‘show up here and we’re going to tell you what we’re going to do.’
Are we really to believe that Whedon & co. are actually shooting a scene for a major tentpole movie just weeks before it hits theaters?
Whedon and Marvel boss Kevin Feige denied Ruffalo's and Downey's (who's known to be a pransker) comments that cameras were rolling Thursday. Whedon said Downey and Ruffalo were only kidding.
We’re shooting another battle scene. It’s probably a bad idea because we only have three hours. . . Mark Ruffalo’s costume is made of CGI. Those guys are clowns.
But Ain't It Cool reports that there was a quick Avengers reshoot Thursday night. The site reports multiple sources confirmed there was a one-night shoot scheduled and that it will appear at the very, very end of The Avengers. Fans have known that starting with the first Iron Man, Marvel movies have included a post-credits scene, usually a teaser for the next Marvel project.
So who should we believe? Downey and Ruffalo or Whedon? If they did film a scene, why wait until the last minute? Guess the world will find out when The Avengers hits theaters.
