It's not a stretch to say we've been excited about The Avengers since word of the movie first broke. Will it — can it — live up to our expectations? The answer seems to be an unlikely, but wonderful, yes. Right now it has a juicy 96% fresh critic rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Have you bought your tickets yet?
"Wildly entertaining yet brilliantly cohesive, wonderfully characterised, deftly humorous and packed with heart, this is an absolute winner."
— Erin Free, FILMINK (Australia)
"The biggest Marvel movie yet, destined for the box-office stratosphere... Director Joss Whedon pulls off a stunning feat in bringing balance to this superhuman circus, engineered to charm the geek core and nonfans alike."— Todd McCarthy, Hollywood Reporter
"Like a superior, state-of-the-art model built from reconstituted parts, Joss Whedon's buoyant, witty and robustly entertaining superhero smash-up is escapism of a sophisticated order, boasting a tonal assurance and rich reserves of humor that offset the potentially lumbering and unavoidably formulaic aspects of this 143-minute team-origin story."— Justin Chang, Variety
"A joyous blend of heroism and humour that raises the stakes even as it maintains a firm grip on what makes the individual heroes tick."— James White, Empire Magazine
"Big, brash and very funny, Joss Whedon's Avengers is equal to the sum of its parts — and for once, that's no faint praise. Suit up."— Jonathan Crocker, Total Film
