First Trailer for Ben Affleck's Argo Debuts

Ten years ago, a movie called Argo would sound like the perfect campy sci-fi project for Ben Affleck, who back then was starring in bombs like Gigli, Paycheck, and Reindeer Games. But for today's Affleck, who has proved to be a successful director after helming Gone Baby Gone and The Town, Argo is a political action thriller. Now, we get a look at the movie via its first trailer.
Affleck also stars in the movie as Tony Mendez, a CIA technical operations officer who creates a fake Hollywood production (titled Argo) in order to rescue six Americans from the Tehran hostage crisis with the help of Hollywood producer Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin) and Academy Award–winning makeup artist John Chambers (John Goodman). It would be hard to believe the story was plausible if it weren't true (read the Wired article that inspired the story). "This is the best bad idea we have," says Jack O'Donnell (Bryan Cranston).
The movie also stars Kyle Chandler, Taylor Schilling, and Victor Garber. It was written by Chris Terrio, based on Joshuah Bearman's article. George Clooney serves as one of the movie's producers.
