Now that The Avengers is into its second record-breaking weekend at the box office, Sony Pictures is starting to ramp up its promotional push for Marc Webb's Spider-Man franchise reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. A new TV spot recently aired that includes a few snippets of new footage of Andrew Garfield in action as Spider-Man and promises an "exclusive first look" at the movie in a four-minute "super preview" to air during the season premeire of America's Got Talent on May 14th.
In addition to the new TV spot, a new viral video has been uploaded to the viral website OscorpIndustries — named after Norman Osborn, the billionaire genius who gave Spider-Man so much trouble in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man as the Green Goblin — that acts as a recruiting video for the company's intern initiative, with Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) touting herpatology (the study of reptiles) as the key to the future because of the ability of reptiles to adapt to "heat, cold, even loss of limb" (hence his interest, since he's missing an arm himself).
Finally, a new featurette has been released that primarily focuses on Connor's scaly alter-ego, the Lizard, with commentary from Ifans, as well as never-before-seen footage of Connors' transformation.
The Amazing Spider-Man was written by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent. Emma Stone, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Annie Parisse, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, C. Thomas Howell, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field also star.
