Just one day after Millennium Entertainment released a series of four character posters for the upcoming psychological thriller Red Lights, the studio has released an intense new trailer for the movie. Described by Spanish writer-director Rodrigo Cortés (Buried) as a movie about "how the brain does not give a true picture of reality," Red Lights stars Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver as paranormal researchers dedicated to exposing fakes. The duo meet their match, however, when they try to debunk the abilities of a world-renowned psychic (Robert De Niro) who has been absent from the public arena for thirty years.
Accompanying the new trailer was a more detailed synopsis of the movie, which explains the role Elizabeth Olsen plays in the movie for the first time:
Veteran paranormal researchers Dr. Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and Tom Buckley (Murphy) debunk fraudulent claims of ghost whispering, faith healing and other psychic phenomena by detecting what Matheson calls "red lights," the subtle tricks behind every staged supernatural occurrence. But when the legendary blind psychic Simon Silver ( De Niro)comes out of retirement after 30 years, his once-fearless adversary Matheson warns Buckley to back off, fearing reprisal from the powerful Silver. Determined to discredit Silver, Buckley and his star student (Olsen) use every tool at their disposal to uncover the truth behind the charismatic, spoon-bending, mind reader. But Buckley is forced to reexamine his own core beliefs as his quest builds to a mind-blowing conclusion in this taut psychological thriller from award-winning writer and director Rodrigo Cortés (Buried).
