"You think that Jason Bourne was the whole story? There's a lot more going on here."
The first full-length trailer for The Bourne Legacy has finally been released online and it contains enough references to rogue Treadstone operative Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) that casual moviegoers will know that this movie is not a reboot of, but a continuation of, the previous Bourne movies. It also promises that there are plenty of surprises in store for even the die-hard fans of the series.
When Bourne said that he was no longer "Jason Bourne" at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum, he apparently meant it, because he's not on hand to save the day when genetically modified killers like himself start being targeted for termination in Legacy. Enter: Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), an agent of Operation Outcome, a black ops program that creates killing machines the way Treadstone did, but "without the inconsistency." Proving that he's more than just a programmable assassin, Cross rescues the beautiful scientist Stephanie Snyder (Rachel Weisz) during his globe-trotting quest to stay ahead of the ruthless Byer (Edward Norton) and his hit squads.

The Bourne Legacy was written and directed by Bourne series "narrative architect" Tony Gilroy. Reprising their roles from previous Bourne movies are David Strathairn as Noah Vosen, Albert Finney as Dr. Albert Hirsch, Joan Allen as FBI Agent Pamela Landy, and Scott Glenn as Ezra Kramer. New additions include Stacy Keach as Turso and Oscar Isaac as Number Three.
