Andrew Garfield Swings and Denis Leary Zings in New Preview Clips from The Amazing Spider-Man

In less than a month, Marvel Comics' most popular superhero, Spider-Man (sorry, Cap, Thor, and the rest of you Avengers, but it's true), will be web-slinging his way back onto the big screen after a five-year hiatus and a total reboot of the franchise, courtesy of director Marc Webb. Sony's promotional push for The Amazing Spider-Man is in full, ahem, swing, with TV spots and merchandise tie-ins like the Carl's Jr. "Sweet Costume, Bro" commercial airing on a regular basis.
However, the best promotional material has been saved for the 'net ("web" would be one pun too many), such as the recently released viral videos and featurettes. The same is true for the two new preview clips. The first clip nicely demonstrates the dynamic between Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and his girlfriend's (Emma Stone) dad, Capt. George Stacy (Denis Leary), while the other features a spectacular game of cat-and-mouse between Spider-Man and the NYPD — faithful readers will remember we brought you "spy" pics and a video of this scene being filmed well over a year ago. Both feature the acerbic wit of Leary, with dialogue that seems tailor-made for his style of delivery.
The Amazing Spider-Man is based on the classic Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko that first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962. The screenplay was written by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent. Rhys Ifans, Campbell Scott, Annie Parisse, Irrfan Khan, Embeth Davidtz, C. Thomas Howell, Chris Zylka, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field also star.
