Paramount Postpones Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles

Paramount has had a string of bad weeks. First the studio pulled G.I. Joe: Retaliation just weeks before its prime summer release date. Then it had to postpone Brad Pitt's costly zombie movie, World War Z, because it needed work on its third act, requiring weeks of reshoots.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount just announced it has shut down production on Michael Bay's controversial Ninja Turtle reboot and pushed back the movie's release date from December 2013 to May 2014. Now the studio is without a movie for the 2013 holiday season.
The problem with Ninja Turtle is said to be the script, but THR did not include details in its story. The movie was in pre-production in Vancouver when Paramount halted production, laying off staff and telling the crew that the work stoppage is "indefinite."
Before it went into production, the movie outraged Turtle fans when Bay announced he was drastically changing the origins of everyone's favorite half-shelled heroes. In Bay's version, the turtles will come from an alien race, not be innocent pets who were transformed into crime-fighting, pizza-loving mutants via green ooze. Adding insult to injury, Bay then announced he was changing the movie's title from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to just Ninja Turtles.
Now that the movie is getting its script reworked, maybe Bay and Co. will have time to see the error of their ways. Fingers crossed.
