Three New TV Spots for Total Recall

The battle for weekend of Aug. 3 is on and, so far, Columbia Pictures' remake of Total Recall is winning. Sure, the first trailer for indie romantic comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever has been released, but Total Recall's main wide-release competition, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, has been dormant of a late, while Columbia has released a second trailer and now three TV spots for Total Recall.
Of course, one could argue that the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies have their own built-in audience, while the Total Recall remake is hoping audiences don't recall director Paul Verhoeven's 1990 adaptation and give in to the visuals created by director Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard). Colin Farrell steps in for Arnold Schwarzenegger as factory worker Doug Quaid who still heads to memory-implanting company Rekall and soon learns that he may or may not be a spy and that everyone, including his "wife" (Kate Beckinsale) are fighting to find what's in his head. The three new TV spots are mostly similar, though each offers snippets of new footage.
Based on the late author Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale", Total Recall was written by Mark Bomback (Unstoppable), James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Kurt Wimmer (Salt). Bokeem Woodbine (Devil) and John Cho (Star Trek) co-star.
