Trailer for Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher Sneaks Its Way Online

Though Tom Cruise's private life is currently feeding the tabloid fodder, let's not forget the guy has a day job playing spies, rock stars, and all around badasses. Next up on Cruise's docket is this winter's Jack Reacher, based on a character created by author Lee Child. While we have already gotten a first look at Cruise as the iconic literary character, we now can see Cruise in action as Reacher thanks to a Russian trailer for the first movie that has sneaked its way online ahead of the trailer's official theatrical debut (the trailer is attached to this Wednesday's The Amazing Spider-Man).
Because our Russian translator is currently out of the office, we'll have to guess what's going on in the trailer (a trailer with English subtitles has been pulled by the studio) but it's obvious that Reacher is a grittier character then Cruise's Mission: Impossible Ethan Hunt.
When the 5-foot-7 Cruise spoke to fans about playing the 6-foot-5 Reacher, he said this: "Lee felt that I was the right guy to drive fast cars and kick the s**t out of people onscreen. Sometimes, that's all that matters." Well, at least based on the trailer, Cruise gets plenty of screen time driving fast cars and kicking the s**t out of people.
Based on Childs' novel One Shot (the ninth in the series), Jack Reacher follows the loner as he investigates the deaths of five individuals who were all killed by a lone sniper. Reacher is joined by defense attorney Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike) in an effort to bring the real culprits to justice after an innocent man is charged with the murders. Robert Duvall (Days of Thunder), Richard Jenkins (Let Me In) and David Oyelowo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) co-star.
