Oz The Great and Powerful Teaser Poster Debuts

It's been a while since we've heard much about director Sam Raimi's The Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz The Great and Powerful, but as Disney prepares to show off more at Comic-Con, they have released a new teaser poster for the prequel. We assume it is James Franco, who will be playing a young Oz, though the figure in the poster riding the hot air balloon to the Emerald City is a little too small to be recognizable. Not to worry, Franco's look as Oz was captured in a blurry scan of an Italian poster that was leaked last month. As for the three witches that Franco encounters — played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams — we'll have to wait and see if Comic-Con brings a first look.
When Oscar Diggs (Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Kunis) Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
Based on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel, Oz The Great and Powerful was written by Mitchell Kapner (The Whole Nine Yards) and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole). The cast includes Zach Braff as Franco's circus assistant and the voice of a CGI winged monkey named Finley, and Joey King as the voice of CGI character China Girl. As is typical for a Sam Raimi movie, Bruce Campbell will cameo.
