Warner Bros. Debuts Comic-Con Poster for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim
07.07.12 by Chris
Up until now, we've seen very little of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim but that changes with today's debut of the movie's first poster.
The poster illustrates the size the of the massive robots, called Jaegers, controlled by two human pilots, which are used to do battle with monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju. The two pilots standing on the shoulder of the Jaeger in the poster look like ants in comparison to the skyscraper-sized robot.
Warner Bros. released the poster to coincide with the movie's appearance at this week's Comic-Con. Del Toro will host a panel for Pacific Rim on Saturday in Hall H at Comic-Con. The director and stars
Charlie Day, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kicuchi, and Ron Perlman will also be hand to sign autographs at a session following the panel.
Unlike most of the projects making an appearance at Comic-Con, little is known about Pacific Rim, which is still shooting. Here's the movie's synopsis:
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot (Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Kikuchi) — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Unlike other studios, Warner Bros. will have a big presence at Comic-Con. The studio is scheduled to have panels on Pacific Rim, The Hobbit, and Man of Steel. Now that we have Comic-Con posters for Pacific Rim and The Hobbit, should we expect a Man of Steel poster any moment now?
