Breaking Dawn - Part 2 Comic-Con Panel Does Not Disappoint
07.12.12 by Mandy
The panel for Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has just come to a close and all the key players were in attendance. Of course the trio, Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) were there as well as series creator Stephenie Meyer. The Cullens were all in attendance, including Kellan Lutz who was remarkably handsome in his deep tan. Though it's not surprising he looks good tanned, we've just become so used to seeing him as a very pale vampire.
One of the more interesting answers of the afternoon came from Meyer who was asked if she planned to complete Midnight Sun, the story of the novel Twilight told from Edward's point of view. Meyer replied that she is burned out on vampires, but joking suggested that Pattinson write it. What we love about that response is that it leaves her wide open to write about werewolves or half-human-half-vampire children or shyster lawyers who forge documents for undead clients. All of these possibilities are left wide open.
In addition to that little nugget, Lautner talked about how much fun it was to play a version of Jacob that didn't wasn't completely lovesick over Bella, and Lutz talked about being happy that Emmett finally got to kiss his wife in the movie. Ashley Green and Nikki Reed both became emotional when they talked about the series coming to a close. Green talked about how much she loves the family she's made while working on the Twilight movies, and Reed discussed how, since they were all the same age, the group grew up together during the course of the filming.
Fans asked the panel who they would dress up as at Comic-Con. Apparently Stewart wants to take another stab at Snow White's story, because she would want to dress up as the Evil Queen from the fairy tale. Pattinson gave a completely nerdy Comic-Con-worthy answer when he said he wanted to dress up as General Zod from Superman.
The funniest moment in the panel was probably when a fan asked what advice the characters from Breaking Dawn would give to their "younger" selves from Twilight. Pattinson's answer: "Keep it in your pants."
Stewart and Lautner were in agreement on their favorite scene in the new movie, and it's the one where Jacob admits to imprinting on Renesmee. They insisted that it turned out very funny. The panel discussion closed with the actors who played the vampires from the foreign covens all being introduced.
It wasn't all just talking though. The first seven minutes of Breaking Dawn - Part 2 were screened, picking up right where Part 1 left off. In the clip, Bella quickly adjusts to her new vampire powers, climbing up mountain sides, running through the forest with Edward, and she does a little hunting as well. When Edward embraces vampire Bella for the first time, Bella surprises Edward by her newly acquired strength.
In addition, a surprise preview clip from the movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host was also shown to the audience.
The panel began the discussion by paying tribute to Gisela Gagliardi the Twilight fan who died on Tuesday while waiting in line at Comic-Con.
