The summer, so far, has been dominated by comic book movies and other assorted sequels, but the fall will offer a few more literary adaptations, including director Joe Wright's (Hanna) Anna Karenina.
Based on Leo Tolstoy's 1877 classic novel and adapted by playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love), the movie features one of the classic love triangles, as Anna (Keira Knightley) is caught between her love of Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson) and her husband Alexei Karenin (Jude Law). A new, six-minute preview clip for the movie has debuted online, with a brief introduction by Wright, who explains that the movie was almost entirely shot in a dilapidated theater, as depicted in the recently released poster.
Anna Karenina will be the third movie collaboration between Wright and Knightley, with the director and actress working previously on 2005's Pride & Prejudice and 2007's Atonement. Emily Watson, Kelly MacDonald, and Matthew MacFayden co-star.
