Christian Bale "Intrigued" to See New Take on Batman After The Dark Knight Rises

Academy Award-winning actor Christian Bale needed some time to collect himself after he took off the Bat-suit for the very last time. At a recent press conference to promote The Dark Knight Rises, Bale said that he "just went down and sat in a room and realized this is it." Though "real proud" of his contribution to director Christopher Nolan's revitalization of the Batman franchise following the disastrous fourth movie, Batman & Robin, Bale doesn't feel any ownership of the character. In fact, Bale told MTV that he is "immensely" interested in seeing what happens to the franchise after The Dark Knight Rises and "intrigued" to see how another actor will interpret the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman. He also gave props to one of the actors who preceeded him in playing the "Caped Crusader" and you'll probably be as surpised as we were by his selection.
I'm very intrigued to see another interpretation of it at this point. There have been many wonderful ones. Adam West did it fantastically, spoofing it. I'm sincere. He really did. But, we returned to the darkness, which I'm told is what Bob Kane originally intended when he created this. Chris [Nolan, director] has managed to make it topical. Well [with] Bob Kane, it was topical, as well — World War II. So it will be very interesting to see what somebody else does with the character. I'll be the first there there to watch.
The Dark Knight Rises was written by Jonathan Nolan from a story conceived by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Returning cast members include Gary Oldman as Commissioner James Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Sir Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, and Nestor Carbonell as the mayor of Gotham City. New additions in major roles include Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, Josh Pence as Ra's al Ghul, and Juno Temple as Holly Robinson. Alon Aboutboul, Christopher Judge, Daniel Sunjata, Rob Brown, Adam Rodriguez, Christopher Judge, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, Tom Conti, and Joey King also star.
