Emma Watson Denies 50 Shades of Grey Casting Rumors

Emma Watson's post-Harry Potter career has so far included roles in last November's My Week With Marilyn, the upcoming adaptation of young adult novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the The Bling Ring, which was inspired by the true story of the fame-obsessed teens dubbed the Hollywood Hills Burglars. Currently, she is working on director Darren Aronofsky's Biblical tale Noah. Watson has also been a centerpiece of casting rumors surrounding the movie adaptation of author E.L. James' erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey, despite the fact that Universal Pictures has yet to announce a screenwriter or director on the project. Tired of the rumors, Watson finally sounded off about the project to EW.
I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing. There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo — I never even saw a script!
Watson admitted that even her family and friends were asking her about the rumors. "I told them just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s any less true than if there are three or four," said Watson, who went on to reveal that she won't be responding to every casting rumor. "The thing is I’m not going to go out there every time someone attaches me to a film to say no or release a statement."
The Perks of Being a Wallflower opens September 14, while The Bling Ring is expected to arrive in 2013 (though no date is set yet), and Noah will arrive on March 28, 2014. Watson will also cameo as herself in The End of the World, an apocalyptic comedy from writer- directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, which will arrive on June 14, 2013.
