5 Reasons to Go to the Movies: Bradley Cooper, Ghosts, Bikes and More
08.24.12 by Ryan
Need a reason to see a movie this weekend? Not to worry, Casey Messer has five. The host of Naked Trailers previews this week's new additions to movie theaters and home video, which include ghosts, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a bike messenger, and a dread-locked Bradley Cooper.
Horror fans are getting an early jump on the Halloween season with the supernatural horror movie The Apparition, which stars Ashley Greene and Sebastian Stan as a young couple who become haunted by a malevolent presence that feeds on fear. Tom Felton co-stars as a supernatural expert that is hired to help the couple.
For those looking for less scares, the action-comedy Hit and Run follows Dax Shepard as a former getaway driver who jeopardizes his Witness Protection identity to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles. Cooper co-stars as Shepard's bank robbing, former best friend who did not have a good time in jail.
Gordon-Levitt has already enjoyed success this summer in The Dark Knight Rises, but the actor will be on his own in Premium Rush. Gordon-Levitt stars as a bike messenger who is chased around New York city by a crooked cop (Michael Shannon) in order to get one of his envelopes. David Koepp (Ghost Town) directs.
Those who want to stay at home can watch Bernie, the tragic comedy starring Jack Black as an extremely well-liked, small-town mortician who murders a wealthy widow (Shirley Maclaine). There's also Hide Away, which stars Josh Lucas as a successful businessman who buys and boards a dilapidated sailboat in an attempt to get his life on track.
